Day 7: Finishing Up The Games

Today, the remaining groups have basically finished up their Dice Simulators and played "Round the Clock."  It's a lot of fun watching them enjoy using something that they have worked so hard to create and code.  I hope they carry this excitement into the next project and enjoy working on the music program.

I'm happy to see that the groups that have moved onto the music program are having fun exploring the various sound options Scratch has to offer.

For this project, I've given the students more creative freedom than with the Dice Simulator.  My example program plays the song Hot Cross Buns, but I do not want the students to simply copy my code and recreate the song.  I want them to explore the different instruments and notes to string together a song that they can be proud of.  I also introduced them to the sound library, so they can also incorporate premade sounds and effects into their projects.

However, I do not want students to simply add one premade sound effect into their project and loop it forever.  I hope for them to explore the sound portion of block coding more and come to understand how it works.

I also encourage the students to utilize their creativity and design interesting backdrops and stages to make their projects truly come alive.
